What is an Industrial Firefighter?

An industrial firefighter is a specially trained firefighter who responds to fires and emergencies in industrial settings. These settings can include oil and gas well sites, gas plants, refineries, mining sites and other industrial areas. With expertise in fire suppression techniques, hazard mitigation, emergency response protocols, and the handling of hazardous materials, industrial firefighters play a vital role in safeguarding personnel, property, and assets within industrial facilities.

Responsibilities :

  • Set up and maintain Superior Fire Control Ltd. firefighting and/or shower equipment as described in specific procedures
  • Conduct regular safety meetings with an emphasis on specific hazards
  • Drive company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner
  • Maintain and keep vehicles in excellent working order and keep them clean at ALL times
  • Be punctual
  • Display professional work habits in the shop and on location
  • Completion of daily paperwork, such as Vehicle Pre/Post Trip Inspections, Safety Meeting Checklists, ERP’s
  • Being fit for duty daily and complying with all of Superior’s and/or Clients rules and expectations
  • Demonstrate leadership in all aspects of job performance
  • Respond to any emergency as per your training

Requirements & skills :

  • Firefighting Certificate – NFPA 1001 Level 1 & 2 and or 1081 Level 1 & 2 (not required but a great bonus) OR volunteer Fire Fighting experience OR Woodland Fire Fighting experience
  • Standard Oilfield Tickets (H2S Alive, Standard First Aid with CPR)
  • Superior will provide company specific TDG and WHIMIS tickets
  • Valid Class 1, 3, 5 and Operator’s license (NO GDL’s)
  • CSO (Common Safety Orientation)
  • Energy Safety Canada Gas Detection and Flammable Substance
  •  MUST BE LOCAL TO GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB OR THE PROVINCE OF ALBERTA, CANADA TO APPLY FOR THIS JOB. WE WILL REJECT ALL APPLICATIONS ORIGINATING FROM OVER SEAS.
